Step 2: Check the information on the network configuration report

Please confirm the following on the report:

  • “Name/SSID” is the correct name of your wireless network. If the Name/SSID is not correct, continue to Step 3.

  • “Wireless Link Status” is “Link OK”. If the Wireless Link Status is not OK, continue to Step 3 to perform a Network Reset.

  • The IP address is not “0.0.0.0” or does not start with “169.254”. Also make sure that it is "Via DHCP" in the brackets. If the IP Address is not correct, or it is “set manually”, continue to Step 3.

Also check the connection speed in the brackets next to the Wireless Link Status. If the connection speed is below 40Mbps and you are experiencing intermittent issues, it may be caused by a poor wireless signal to the wireless access point. Try moving the Brother device closer to your wireless modem/router.

If the above are correct, the Brother device is connected to the wireless network. If required, please visit our top FAQ page for further troubleshooting options.

Wired/Ethernet connection

Please confirm the following on the report:

  • “Ethernet Link Status”. If the Brother device is connected, the status will be Link OK. If the Ethernet Link Status is not OK, try the following:

    • Ensure that there is an ethernet (network cable) connecting from the Brother device to the correct socket on your network modem/router.

    • Try connecting the ethernet cable to a different port on the modem/router

    • Try another ethernet cable.

  • Print a new Network report after each change and recheck the Ethernet Link Status. If the Ethernet Link Status is still not OK, continue to Step 3.

  • The IP address is not “0.0.0.0” or does not start with “169.254”. Also make sure that it is "Via DHCP" in the brackets. If the IP Address is not correct, or it is “set manually”, continue to Step 3.

If the above are correct, the Brother device is connected to the network. If required, please visit our top FAQ page for further troubleshooting options.
