FAQ: How to setup my Brother printer wirelessly

Firstly, you will need to obtain your SSID (network name) and your Password (network key) from your wireless router/modem. The information can typically be found on the back of the modem/router. 

If you have changed the SSID or Password for your wireless network, you will need to use the new SSID and Password instead of what is found on the back of the wireless router/modem. 

Once you have the SSID and Password, follow the relevant instructions below to run the Wireless Setup Wizard on your Brother device.

MFC and Printer Touchscreen Models

  1. Press Wi-Fi icon on the touchscreen and select Setup Wizard or Find Wi-Fi Network. Alternatively Press brother settings icon for touch-screen models (Settings) or Menu > All Settings > Network > WLAN (Wi-Fi) > Setup Wizard or Find Wi-Fi Network. (All settings might be skipped in some models.)

  2. When Enable WLAN? or Switch Network interface to wireless? or Network I/F switched to Wireless appears, enable the wireless network. This will start the wireless setup wizard  

  3. Select your Network Name (SSID)

  4. Enter the Network Key (Password) and press OK to apply the settings

If your Brother machine successfully connects the machine’s LCD will display “Connected”.

Printer LCD Display Models (HL)

  1. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select the following: 

    a. Select Network. Press OK 

    b. Select WLAN. Press OK 

    c. Select Setup Wizard. Press OK 

  2. When WLAN Enable? or Enable WLAN? appears, enable the wireless network. This will start the wireless setup wizard

  3. When a list of SSIDs appears, press the Up or Down arrow keys to select the SSID and press OK

  4. Enter the Network Key (Password) and press OK to apply the settings If your Brother machine successfully connects the machine’s LCD will display “Connected” 

If your Brother machine successfully connects the machine’s LCD will display “Connected”.

Non Touch Screen MFC Models

  1. Press Menu or Settings

  2. Press the Up or Down arrow key to select the following:

    a. Select Network. Press OK. (This step might be skipped in some models.) 

    b. Select WLAN (Wi-Fi). Press OK

    c. Select Setup Wizard or Find Wi-Fi Network. Press OK 

  3. When WLAN Enable? or Enable WLAN? appears, enable the wireless network. This will start the wireless setup wizard.

  4. When a list of SSIDs appears, press the Up or Down arrow keys to select the SSID and press OK

  5. Enter the Network Key (Password) and press OK

  6. Select Yes to apply the settings

If your Brother machine successfully connects the machine’s LCD will display “Connected”.
