What Brother will never do
We offer free Customer Care for the lifetime of your Brother product and will never request payment for support. If someone asks you to pay for support, remote access, gift cards or passwords - it’s not us. We will never do the following:
- Ask you to pay for technical support, troubleshooting or driver downloads
- Ask for your password, one-time codes or full credit card details over email/SMS/chat
- Ask you to install remote-access tools from an unsolicited contact
- Direct you to third-party “support” sites to pay a fee
How to spot a scam pretending to be Brother
Websites
- Sites that look similar but aren’t brother.com.au
- Sites with unusual URLs, poor spelling, limited contact info or offers that seem too good to be true
- Fake online stores misusing the Brother logo or promote false discounts and products
Email or SMS
- Unexpected messages claiming urgent action (e.g., “your warranty is expiring,” “printer blocked - pay to fix”)
- Links or attachments you weren’t expecting
- Sender addresses or domains that aren’t from brother.com.au (watch for misspellings or extra words)
- Messages or emails requesting credit card details, gift cards, passwords or any personal information
Phone calls
- Unsolicited “support” calls demanding immediate payment or asking to install software
- Caller ID spoofing (number appears legitimate but isn’t)
- Aggressive behaviour or pressure to act fast
Ads and social media posts
- Watch for ads or posts offering “paid tech support” or “instant activation” for Brother products - these are not endorsed by Brother
- Some posts may direct you to fake support services or unverified third-party resellers
- Always check that the post comes from Brother’s verified social accounts (look for the verification tick)
