Brother has introduced two new mobile printers aimed at the retail and logistics markets.

The new Brother models are the $449 RJ-2035B with a printing width up to 48mm, and the $649 RJ-3035B which prints up to 72mm wide.

Both have a print resolution of 203dpi and a maximum print speed of 4ips (102mmps), and feature Bluetooth 5 and USB interfaces, support for most printer command languages, and drivers for Windows 7 and later, macOS 10.11 and later, and major Linux distributions.

They are the first Brother printers supporting OPOS and JPOS for easier integration with POS systems, and Brother provides SDKs for Windows, Android and iOS.

Applications include roaming checkouts to speed up shopping, to support click-and-collect transactions, and to help avoid congestion in these days of social distancing; printing parking notices or speeding tickets; and printing picking slips to save warehouse workers having to keep returning to a central location.

Recognising that such devices are often used in harsher conditions than most office equipment, the two RJ series printers are drop tested to 1.8m and are IP42 rated, meaning they can withstand dripping water when tilted but are not dustproof.
