Tiny Forests & Earthwatch Australia

2024

Tiny Forests is an initiative by Earthwatch Australia aimed at creating biodiverse, sustainable urban forests in local communities. These mini ecosystems are designed to provide environmental benefits such as improved air quality, enhanced biodiversity, and increased community engagement in nature conservation.

Through the Tiny Forest program, Earthwatch Australia plants small urban forests in public spaces, fostering environmental education and hands-on involvement. These forests are carefully monitored to track biodiversity and ecosystem health over time.

Partnership with Brother International Australia

We are closely aligned with Earthwatch Australia through our shared commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. By supporting initiatives like Tiny Forests, we contribute to creating greener cities and fostering local environmental stewardship.

This partnership provides opportunities for our team members to participate in biodiversity monitoring events, engage with nature conservation efforts, and stay connected with Earthwatch’s initiatives, whether in Melbourne, Sydney, or other locations.

In November, we participated in an engaging and hands-on event with Earthwatch Australia, where we contributed to the ongoing research of the Tiny Forest initiative. Earthwatch staff guided us through a series of biodiversity surveys, where we collected valuable data for their global Tiny Forest platform. Our tasks included measuring plant growth, testing soil health, and assessing the water infiltration rate. We also observed and documented the biodiversity within the forest. This event allowed us to gain practical experience in environmental research while making a meaningful contribution to the monitoring and development of urban forests.
