HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM UNDER THIS WARRANTY

To make a claim under this warranty you will need to:

1. Contact Brother Technical Support to resolve any issues with your product. Please provide Serial number, Proof of purchase receipt and a description of the issue to enable a Brother representative to assist you to resolve the issue or direct you to a service centre. Click here to contact us.
2. Follow the instructions for your Warranty Type (see below)

RETURN-TO-BASE WARRANTY

Where the Warranty Type is Return-to-base, you will be responsible for transporting the warranted products for service (including packaging, transportation and insurance costs) to and from a Brother authorised repairer. Brother will advise you of authorised repairer address details.

You will need to include your proof of purchase with the warranted product, along with consumables (ink cartridges, toner cartridges, drums etc.) inside the product for testing purposes. Damage caused during transportation by failing to package the product correctly will not be covered by this warranty.

ONSITE WARRANTY

Where the Warranty Type is Onsite, Brother will endeavour to provide a next business day response once a claim has been logged with Brother's Product Support Centre and all relevant details are supplied. You should have your proof of purchase available for the onsite technician to inspect. Next business day onsite warranty service is available within a 50km radius of the GPO in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and/or Canberra or within a 30km radius of a Brother nominated authorised onsite warranty centre.

You will not be charged for travel costs to provide onsite service within an area where the onsite warranty service is available. Contact Brother to find out if you are within an area where the onsite warranty service is available.

If you are outside a service area and we agree to provide onsite service, you will be responsible for travel charges for the service. Alternatively, you may elect to apply the Return-to-base terms.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

This section applies to the extent permitted by law.

This warranty only covers genuine Brother products imported into Australia by Brother.

This warranty does not include maintenance kits (periodic or otherwise), accessories and consumable items, cleaning, normal wear and tear (EG. rubber pads & rollers), damage caused by accident, neglect, misuse, abuse, improper installation or operation, acts of God or environmental impacts (including but not limited to lightning, flood, earthquake and fire), foreign matter entering the product such as liquid, moisture, insect infestation or dirt or any damage caused from service, maintenance, modification or tampering by anyone other than a Brother authorised repairer.

Brother recommends the use of Brother Genuine Supplies. They’re proven to be great quality, long lasting and safe. While not all non-genuine supplies or accessories cause problems, using third-party consumables and products may damage your Brother device. Any damage caused by using non-genuine supplies, accessories and products may void the warranty.

Operation of the product in excess of the specifications or other than for the intended purpose, use on electrical voltages other than shown on the rating plate, or use with the serial number or rate label removed, shall be deemed abuse.

REPAIRS

Products presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished products of the same type, rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the products. Replacement of the product or a part does not extend or restart the Warranty Term.

If a product presented for repair is capable of retaining user-generated data, you are advised that repair of the product may result in loss of the data.

REIMBURSEMENTS

Brother, or its authorised repairers or authorised onsite warranty centre, may seek reimbursement from you of any reasonable costs incurred by them if the products are found to be in good working order, the problem is not a consequence of a defect or manufacturing fault or where any of the warranty exclusions and limitations apply. Reasonable costs may include travel costs and parts and labour costs for onsite service, the costs of packaging, insurance and transportation for return-to-base service and parts and labour.

YOUR RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER

This section applies if you acquire the warranted products as a consumer.

The benefits provided to you under this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies that you may have as a consumer under a law in relation to the goods or services to which this warranty relates.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

This section applies to the extent permitted by law.

This warranty only covers genuine Brother products imported into Australia by Brother.

This warranty does not include mats, blades, blade holders, pens, pen holders, sheets and other ScanNCut accessories which normally require replacement from time to time and maintenance kits (periodic or otherwise), consumable items, cleaning, normal wear and tear, damage caused by accident, neglect, misuse, abuse, improper installation or operation, acts of God or environmental impacts (including but not limited to lightning, flood, earthquake and fire), foreign matter entering the product such as liquid, moisture, insect infestation or dirt or any damage caused from service, maintenance, modification or tampering by anyone other than a Brother authorised repairer.

REPAIRS

RECOMMENDED SERVICING

It is recommended that the ScanNCut product be serviced a minimum of once every 12 months, depending on usage, during and outside of the Warranty Term, to maintain optimum performance. Brother will not be liable for this cost of servicing the product.

This warranty does not include needles, belts, springs, lamp bulbs, bobbins, knives, etc which normally require replacement from time to time and maintenance kits (periodic or otherwise), accessories and consumable items, cleaning, normal wear and tear, damage caused by accident, neglect, misuse, abuse, improper installation or operation, acts of God or environmental impacts (including but not limited to lightning, flood, earthquake and fire), foreign matter entering the product such as liquid, moisture, insect infestation or dirt or any damage caused from service, maintenance, modification or tampering by anyone other than a Brother authorised repairer, or with the use of supplies, consumable items, or add on products that are non genuine Brother products. Operation of the product in excess of the specifications or other than for the intended purpose, use on electrical voltages other than shown on the rating plate, or use with the serial number or rate label removed, shall be deemed abuse.

RECOMMENDED SERVICING

It is recommended that your product be serviced a minimum of once every 12 months, depending on usage, during and outside of the Warranty Term, to maintain optimum performance. Brother will not be liable for this cost of servicing the product.
