Key features and benefits

Correctly aligned labels

Add-in feature – when downloading the P-touch Editor software, you can opt to "add-in" this to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, so you can print labels directly from within these popular programs by simply hi-lighting, click the P-touch icon and pressing print.

Banners – the ultimate in versatility and unique to Brother, users can print up to 3M on the QL-1050 and up to 1M on other models. Perfect for creating temporary signage and banners.

Barcodes – all Brother label printers print up to 19 different barcode symbologies such as EAN-13, Code39 and UPC-A.

Built-in cutter – Unlike other label printers, all Brother label printers come with a built-in cutter to ensure a quick and professional finish. Depending on the model and usage required, the cutter can either be a manual cutter (which requires the user to slide the lever) or an automatic cutter (which automatically cuts after each label / print job).

Computer connected operation – the label printer must be connected to a computer to operate.

Continuous length tapes – unique to Brother, our label printers have the additional feature of printing banners or customised label sizes up to 3m.

Die-cut labels – are pre-cut labels in a range of popular sizes

Drop in label and tape rolls – with Brother's smart design, you can easily replace and change rolls thanks to the built-in spool. Easy drop-in rolls eliminate the messy process of reloading labels onto spools found with other label printers. The built-in spool enables the labelling software to automatically recognise the roll that is in the machine, so you can start creating your labels instantly without the need to select the label size in the software.

Dual interface: certain models have the added feature of both USB and RS-232 Serial port connectivity. See QL-1050.

Express – Beginner mode of software or for creating labels quickly.

Film labels & tape – are plastic labels, which are more durable against water than the paper labels. The CD/DVD labels are film, to ensure resistance to the heat generated in the CD/DVD players, resulting in optimum performance. Continuous length film tape is also available, ideal for usage for banners and signage.

Networking – certain models can be networked with the optional PS-9000 print server. This allows the label printer connection to a network to allow for multiple users to access and print labels on the one machine.

Network ready – certain models have a built-in network. This allows the label printer to be connected to a network to allow multiple users to access and print labels on the one machine. The QL-580N and QL-1060N are network ready models.

Operating System – all Brother label printers are compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Print resolution – select from standard (300 x 300 dpi) resolution or High resolution (300 x 600 dpi) for situations requiring crisp labels (eg barcodes, images, logos)

Print speed – with the Brother range of label printers, you can print up to 69 labels a minute, based on a 4 line (text only) standard address label.

Professional – Expert Mode for creating sophisticated labels with the complete version of software.

P-touch Editor software – all Brother label printers come with this easy to use yet powerful label design software which enables the user to customise and create labels. The software includes the following:

  • P-touch® Editor
  • P-touch® Library
  • P-touch® Add-in
  • P-touch® Address Book

Removable labels – the special adhesive in removable labels ensures the label can be safely removed from the surface without damaging it or leaving remains of the adhesive.

Snap – Quickest way to print a label with 3 functions available:

  • Screen capture feature
  • Drag & drop function
  • Print text function

Stand alone operation – the label printer can operate without a connection to a computer. This is ideal in situations when a computer may not be available for use. Unique to Brother, the QL-650TD has a stand alone function, ideal for printing automatic Time and Date labels.

Thermal label printers – this is a system which uses heat to transfer images onto labels. So you never need to purchase additional inks, toner or ribbon.
