Brother supports Film Festival and Environment
Brother employees did their bit for the environment when they planted 1,000 trees donated by the Brother NSW office as part of the Dungog Film Festival tree planting and bush regeneration project.
The project, which took place from Monday 14 to Sunday 20 April 2008 in Dungog, in the Hunter Valley, was led by the Festival's environmental partners, Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA).
Brother planted the trees alongside 30 other volunteers in an effort to assist in the restoration of natural habitat in an area just outside of Dungog. The tree planting also helped offset the Festival’s carbon emissions.
Mark Cullen, State Manager for NSW and ACT, commented: "Brother staff are genuinely concerned about the daily impact we all have on the environment and are pleased to have the opportunity to be involved with this regeneration project."
Allanah Zitserman, Dungog's Film Festival Director, organised students from the University of Newcastle to film the project documenting the importance of conservation and regeneration of fauna and flora.

Brother - A Major sponsor of Quilts 2000 a Paralympics fund raising initiative
Brother is delighted to announce that it is the principal sponsor for the Quilts 2000 project. As major sponsor, Brother is underwriting the expenses incurred in establishing and maintaining the quilts 2000 project. In addition, the company is also offering prize money. All donors of quilts who have not won a cash prize will go into the draw for a top of the range Brother Super Galaxie sewing and embroidery machine.
Quilts 2000 is an officially endorsed fundraising project for the Sydney 2000 Paralympics game. The project encourages quilt makers Australia-wide to donate quilts that are then sold with all proceeds going to the Sydney 2000 Paralympic games.
The official launch was held on the 10th February at Customs House in Circular Quay and displayed the first 16 quilts which were donated. The Deputy Lord Mayor of Sydney, Councillor Henry Tsang officiated. He and Donna Ritchie unveiled the beautiful "lizzie" quilt which was made and then kindly donated by the world renown quilt maker Eileen Campbell. Incidentally, Donna Ritchie was the Captain of the Woman's Wheelchair basketball team at the 1996 Olympic games. Donna's image is one of those found on top of Sydney's Centrepoint Tower.
This sponsorship once again reaffirms Brother's continual commitment and support to the Olympic movement which began in 1984.
